SMALL FORM-FACTOR PLUGGABLE

Why Marvaus SFP Modules

Compact transceivers engineered for reliability, interoperability, and consistent performance across enterprise, telecom, and data-centre environments.

High-Speed Transmission

Gigabit to 100G speeds with low latency and minimal signal loss — certified for enterprise, telecom, and data-centre uplinks.

Hot-Swappable & Versatile

Replace or upgrade modules without powering down the switch. Full compatibility across single-mode, multi-mode, and copper interfaces.

Long-Range & Efficient

Reach distances from 550m to 80km depending on module type — with low power consumption that reduces operational costs at scale.

COMPATIBILITY

Tested Across the Marvaus Switch Range

Every Marvaus SFP module is validated against our full switch portfolio — from unmanaged PoE to carrier-grade L3 core platforms. No guesswork, no incompatibility surprises.

Plug-and-Play with Marvaus Switches

Pre-tested on VP-2010, VP-4010, and VP-6010 series. Insert the module, the link comes up — every time.

Third-Party Interoperability

MSA-compliant and standards-based. Works reliably with major third-party switch and router brands when needed.

DDM / DOM Monitoring

Built-in Digital Diagnostic Monitoring provides real-time visibility into temperature, voltage, TX/RX power, and link health.

FAQ

Common Questions

Everything integrators and IT teams typically ask before specifying SFP modules for a project.

An SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) module is a compact, hot-swappable transceiver that slots into a switch or router’s SFP port. It converts electrical signals to optical (fiber) or passes them over copper — enabling high-speed data transmission across varying distances depending on the module type and fiber standard used.

SFP supports up to 1 Gbps, SFP+ supports 10 Gbps, and SFP28 supports 25 Gbps — all using the same compact form factor. QSFP+ and QSFP28 are physically larger modules that support 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps respectively by using four parallel lanes. The right choice depends on the port type on your switch and the bandwidth your link requires.

Start with three questions: what speed does the port support (1G, 10G, 25G, etc.), what distance do you need to cover (short-range within a building or long-range between sites), and what fiber type is already installed (single-mode or multi-mode). Match those answers to the module spec — SR/SX for short range, LR/LX for long range, ZX/ER for extended reach.

Yes. All Marvaus SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP+, and QSFP28 modules are fully hot-swappable. You can insert or remove them from a live switch without powering down the device or disrupting other ports.

Yes. All modules are MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) compliant and follow IEEE standards, so they are interoperable with most standards-based switches and routers from other vendors. However, some vendors lock their ports to proprietary modules — check your switch documentation or contact us if you are unsure about compatibility.

DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring), also called DOM, is a built-in capability that lets you monitor real-time parameters of the SFP module — including temperature, supply voltage, laser bias current, TX output power, and RX received power. This is essential for proactive troubleshooting and ensuring link quality before problems cause downtime.
